President William Ruto Summary of Commitment In His First Speech Today


President Ruto started by indicating that this was his first day and that he will have more to say in the coming days. He indicated that his government will deliver through hard work.

To ensure the independence of the Police he directed that they control their budget which means that the Inspector General will now control their own budget. On the Judiciary President Ruto indicated he will be appointing the 6 Judges whom the previous regime refused the appoint today and who will be sworn in tomorrow.

In his commitment to the farmers, he indicated that 1.4 Million Bags of fertilizer will be available at 50% from next week. Further KTDA will supply tea farmers fertilizer at 40% less. On Youth unemployment, President Ruto committed to building 20 markets in conjunction with Nairobi City county.

On CRB he promised to ensure financial Inclusion and access to credit by working with them on the new rating system to reduce blacklisting. Further, he noted that many people have resulted to banking under mattresses due to the burden of cash transactions exceeding 1M. He noted that CBK will be sharing news on this soon.

The hustler fund that many have been waiting for will be implemented through chamas, societies, and cooperatives under the Ministry of Cooperatives. He also directed that the clearing of goods revert from Naivasha to Mombasa this afternoon. On CBC he indicated the government will form a task force to engage the public upon which the government will provide a collaborative solution by end of the year.

On the issue of gender rule, he committed that he will implement the 2/3 gender rule and that women will play a substantive role in his government.  On the government, pending bills, he indicated they will be prioritized and sorted. His government is also committed to implementing the East African treaty.

The NHIF will also get a new system based on one’s income to ensure its effectiveness and efficiency. KRA going forward will be more efficient, professional, and customer friendly.
